What is the Future of Physical Security ?

This should be the most important question in 2018 for all Physical Security Professionals.

This year, there were many articles written about how security managers can leverage on technologies to enhance their assets protection program.  Tech companies are competing with one another by producing faster, better and smarter technologies to win over the market share.  Some of these exciting technologies include Big data analytics, Artificial Intelligence,  Cloud computing, robots, drones, machine learning … I was overwhelmed.

With so many choices, it is not easy for a Physical Security Manager to decide what to choose.  Where to start from and what should be done next?

I chanced upon this white paper on “Future of Physical Security” by Microsoft and Accenture Strategy which I thought will give a very good summary of what lies ahead for the future of physical security.  I took away some really good ideas and would recommend you to read it and even share with your team in your team strategy discussion.

FSMAS Members’ Networking Night 2018

I was glad to be invited to attend the Fire Safety Manager Association Singapore (FSMAS) Members’ Networking Night 2018 on 30 Nov 2018.  It was a great event with lots of fun and laughter.  Met up with many friends and strike some good conversations.

The key highlight of the event was the signing of MOU between FSMAS, Institute of Fire Engineers Singapore (IFES) and Association of Company Emergency Response Team (ACERT). Congratulations to the 3 associations and I look forward to more “sparkling initiatives” from them.
